NSV - Walked/Ran a Half Marathon today! (With a mask on)

Basically the title. Today I walked/ran 13.4 miles with a pace of 13:14 min/mile (I took just under 3 hrs).

I never thought I'd be able to do something like this. 10 months of calorie restricting and walking everyday, and I've lost 65 lbs and can do a half marathon. It doesn't feel real. I've felt guilty for years for allowing myself to gain so much weight, but today I feel proud of myself for being able to reverse those mistakes. I'm only 3 lbs away from defeating obesity. I was so happy earlier I actually cried. I'm so grateful for being able to improve my health during this pandemic. Stay safe everyone.

How I achieved this:

Last June I was 280 lbs and sedentary. I decided I really wanted to lose weight, so I started logging my food into my fitness pal and walking everyday. I restrict to 1750 calories and track my walks with MapMyRun. At first, I walked only 2 mi per day. After 2 months and 20 lbs lost, I increased to 3 mi per day. Slowly, as the weight came off and walking further became easier, I would try to walk further. I went 4 mi per day, then 5. Then I set a rule of minimum 3 mi per day, and when I felt like it I would go longer (up to 8mi, then one day I went 10!) Just recently I have felt so much better that I can jog/run short intervals. Then today, I felt so energized that I just decided to walk further than ever, 13 miles.

My tip is to not pressure yourself into exercising for longer amounts of time. Do it when you feel you can and when you are ready, and the progress will come.
