Newbie question

So I started eating healthy for the most part about a month or so ago. Started tracking calories a few weeks ago, bought a scale and started exercising exactly a week ago. My stats as of Sunday were 24 y/o Male, 5’10 1/2, 312 pounds. So I’ve been eating about 1500-1900 calories a day (I’m trying to come up with a more consistent number and building my menu around that). I lost 8.7 pounds in one week.

Now for the questions. I’ve heard that weight comes off fast for the first couple of weeks, but is 8.7 pounds abnormal? Went from 312.3 to 303.6.

Another question, should I be eating more calories? I’ve been eating pretty damn healthy the last 2 weeks (and I love it) , but should I stick to closer around 2,000/day?

I know no one here is a doctor but just looking for some personal experience answers. Thanks
