I'm not sure if it's body dysmorphia or I need to keep losing weight

I am a 28-year old 5' 8" tall male who weighs ~148 pounds. My waist size is about 31". This all seems pretty normal, but when I look down, all I see is my belly sticking out. When I view myself from the side, my belly doesn't look too big, but viewing it from the front (in a mirror) makes it look very unappealing to me. Keep in mind, I definitely used to be obese. At one point, I weighed over 225 pounds. This is the first time in my life that my body fat % is probably (I have never actually had it measured) under 20%.

I'm considering cutting down to 140 pounds before bulking back up to around 160. I really don't want to start bulking until my stomach appears pretty flat, and it looks like that could be a long way off still. Despite seemingly doing everything right when it comes to nutrition and working out, I'm still weak af and am in serious need of some muscle gains. My strength progression is painfully slow (presumably because of the calorie deficit). I'm just not sure if I should keep losing or if I should lower my deficit (currently eating at around a 500 calorie/day deficit) or if I should stop losing altogether. Any advice would be appreciated.
