Weight Loss for Everyone: I gained back my weight for seemingly no reason.

I gained back my weight for seemingly no reason.

I am 18f. I have been a very average weight all my life. I'd usually have a little stomach poking out at the end of the day, but it started to be at the beginning of the day too. I never struggled with body issues until I noticed this, so I decided I needed to lose it. I didn't regularly weigh myself on a scale, so I don't know how how much I started at in the beginning, but based on my first weigh in about a week in, I'm gonna say I started at 139lbs (I'm 5' 3").

I ate junk food every day before this, so I started to be more aware of what I ate. I started using an elliptical 20 minutes with no elevation. I lost at least 7 pounds in the first month, and my stomach/waist improved slightly. (Based off of photo journal)

Now, I work out at least 30 minutes a day if not more, with AT LEAST 20 minutes on the elliptical with decent elevation and AT LEAST 10 minutes of intense ab and leg exercises. I noticed a couple weeks ago (1.5 months in from beginning) I wasn't losing any more weight at all, and my stomach looked the same as it did when I started.

Before I started this, I would eat lots of junk food every day. Now I only eat when I am hungry and am very mindful of what I eat. I rarely slip on eating ANY sugary or unnecessary food.

I also work out almost every day, missing an average of 1.5 days a week. I've definitely improved on how I feel working out and my intensity has grown to make sure I'm getting a good workout. However I'm back at 137lbs after 2 months, and my body looks exactly the same. I would understand not losing weight because of muscle gain, but I don't get how my body's not changing at all. I don't get how I'm not losing weight let alone GAINING it back. I feel like I just did 2 months of work for nothing.

My mother is a nutritionist and is trying to help me out. She tries to make me feel better by saying she works out for twice as long as me and stays the same weight, but she is 50, almost THREE TIMES my age, and has had 3 kids!! So I don't understand! If anything, it makes me feel worse that I weigh the exact same same as my mother (same height).

What am I missing?? I tried to include as much info as possible in this post, and I'm happy to provide more if needed.
