18F Trying to get Healthier Amidst Repeated Failure

I do not currently have access to a scale, but I would guesstimate I am at 200 lbs right now. I've struggled with my weight and stayed between 170-180 lbs since middle school for a two main reasons listed below:

  • Hormonal issues (PCOS if you want to get specific) which cause lots of fat accumulation under my chin and around my midsection, giving me kind of a "dad bod" figure
  • Limitations on physical activity: I've got pretty bad asthma and shin splints

The reasons I am having trouble losing weight are also the reasons that I want to lose weight and get healthier. While PCOS makes it harder to lose weight, it also gives the person a higher likelihood of developing diabetes. Also for a more vane reason, I'm sick of being built like a dude with boobs.

On a more serious note, I need to get my lungs stronger both so that my asthma isn't so severe and so that when I'm inevitably exposed to a lung illness , I wont be hospitalized.

Diet wise, I eat a lot of pasta and a lot of homemade bread with tomato based sauce and chicken or beef. I buy a lot of raw ingredients because it's cheaper to cook from scratch. I'd like to eat more fresh fruit and veggies rather than canned, but those are more expensive and ya girl is a college student with a minimum wage job.

If anyone has lifestyle tips or diet tips that they think would work with my unique situation, please let me know. I'm sick of hovering around 170 lbs and wheezing when I go up the stairs or have an ADHD rush.
