Does your body hold on to your body fat/weight really tight, right when you’re on the verge of getting loose skin?

I don’t know any of what I said in the title made any sense, and I’m sorry. I genuinely want to understand what is happening to my body. I’m 25, I’m 5’7 and I’ve lost about 50 lbs (23 kgs) within a year and never had to deal with the problem that is loose skin. However, I’m stuck on 178 lbs for a while now. I thought my scale would budge within three or four weeks but nothing new has happened for about nine weeks now. Then I thought that I might have to switch things up a little as my body is now used to the same old diet that I’ve had for almost a year. So I tried shaking up my entire diet, drinking enormous amounts of water, and well, trying on new exercises and being consistent at them as I hadn’t really exercised much in my weight loss journey. But surprise surprise, my scale didn’t budge at all. I’ve dealt with plateaus before but nothing like this!

What I did notice is that I’m starting to get loose skin all over my body. I noticed it around my inner thighs, my breasts, my arms and around my butt. People tell me that I look very skinny whenever they approach me, but no miracles are happening on my scale. My question is, did anyone else here face this very issue as me? Does your body try to hold on to your body weight/fat for as long as it can when you’re starting to get too skinny for your own skin?

I know weight loss isn’t easy but seeing new numbers on my scale every two weeks kept me motivated and happy. Now I don’t even know what I’m doing wrong. This is even more disappointing because I feel like I have a long way to go and I want to lose at least 30 more pounds before I stop.
