Running while obese but young

Stats: 5'3.5 (it matters!) 235lbs, 25F.

I absolutely love running but I'm worried about damage to my knees/hips. I used to run up to 2 hours each morning (at least 1.5 miles a day, usually more like 4-6). But that was when I weighed 135, like 6 years ago. I'm aware 100lbs extra is a big deal to my knees, even though I have never had any knee pain or injuries.

After several months of walking, I started jogging again. After 5 minutes of warm-up, I go slow (12 minute mile) and do intervals of usually 1-3 min jog with 1-3 min walk.

I know the most risk preventative strategy is to do other cardio. But I hate other cardio and I won't do it. Whereas I truly enjoy running and get excited to go to the gym. I do better with eating at a deficit purely because I want to lose weight and be able to run for hours again. It reduces my anxiety and makes me feel strong and confident.

Any tips to reduce risk of future knee injury or long-term damage?

If it's really so damnable, any peer-reviewed evidence on the negative effects? What is the suggested tipping point at which it's safe to run?

Thanks in advance for any advice :)
