I'm going to preface by saying that I like my doctor. He seems very good at what he does, listens to me, answers my questions, and in general seems like a really nice guy who happens to be a very good doctor. I have a ton of respect for the guy.
I've lost 33 pounds from my last visit six months ago. I've been losing a few pounds between visit for about a year now, but nothing like this amount. Unsurprisingly, he was happy with the success I've had so far. I was nervous that he might not be on board with the technique of intermittent fasting, but when I told him my schedule he seemed fine with it. Everything seemed peachy.
Then I asked him what he thought of my goal weight of 140, and he promptly replied: "That's ambitious." I was taken aback. I'm 5 foot 3, and from what I've looked up my goal is on the very upper end of normal. He then clarified that with my blood levels and heart health being so good he would be fine with seeing me at 150 or 160.
I've had a few hours to think it over, and I've decided that he wasn't throwing shade at my ability to reach goal. I think he was just saying that at my age (55) and the fact that aside from my knees I'm in pretty good health, I don't really have to be at 140 to be healthy. That said, I don't want to just be healthy, I want to be the best looking version of me that I can be at this point in my life.
I dunno. Like I said, I really respect his opinion on medical matters, he's earned my trust. Do you guys think my goal is overly ambitious? I had no idea he was going to say something like that, and I'm starting to doubt myself now. Have any of you had medical professionals tell you your goal might not be ideal?
