I've lurked on r/loseit for a while now and found it incredibly inspirational. This is my first post and while it's a bit random, I thought it might help someone to share my mini epiphany.
Some background- I'm a 5'2 female, I started at 283lbs and have slowly made my way to 168. Still a way to go yet but I'm astounded and proud of losing over 100lbs.
100lbs is pretty much a whole person yet, when I look in the mirror at my saggy arms, flabby thighs, and protruding stomach, I often think it doesn't really look like I've lost that much.
Which brings me to today's realisation. I was painting my toenails and it struck my that my toes looked a lot longer. The reason, of course, is that they are now considerably thinner. Funny because I'd never really thought I had fat toes. It got me thinking about the weight I've lost and all the 'hidden' places it may have disappeared from.
Yes, I may not have a flat tummy, but I'm sure my heart and liver work much better now they aren't smothered in ponds of fat. And who knew armpits were named that because they are supposed to curve inwards...like pits!
Losing weight is slow and subtle - just because it's not immediately visible in the mirror doesn't mean you haven't lost it. Every single pound closer to a healthy weight makes a real difference to your body..even if sometimes it's only to your toes!
