MFP vs TDEE calculation issue - off by double?

I'm M33/5'11''/160. My BMI is good, but I'm definitely chubby, particularly around the middle, and diabetes runs in the family.

I'd like to lose about ten pounds doing light/moderate exercise, and then start with weights. I'm calling myself sedentary in the apps, but really I get about 4 hours of walking in a week (at least, sometimes more) and a couple of sessions of light resistance band training at the moment. Injury recovery.

On tdeecalculator.net, I'm seeing 2,031 is maintenance. 1500 is provided as the number I'd need to lose 1 pound per week. The math there is simple: 500*7=3500 (~1 pound).

However, My 2 pound/week goal on MFP is also 1500. 1620 is the number provided for 1 pound a week. Yesterday, I ate 1787, and got 308 exercise (which I underestimate on on purpose because of the MFP calcs), which leaves me with a 21 cal deficit on my 1500 goal. I feel good, like I ate enough, and like I got some decent movement in. Feels like a win.. is it?

I've heard that MFP will auto adjust for safety to keep you above 1200, which makes sense.. but I'm practically a whole meal above that.

Your thoughts are very much appreciated.
