Brief bit of background: I've had an on-off relationship with weight-loss since 2017, losing a bunch and then piling it back on. In April this year I got on the scale and saw 87Kg (~192lbs) flash up and decided it was time to get things sorted and begin my journey of regaining fitness. I started cycling and then also took up running to fortify my cardiovascular fitness, realised I liked the challenge of setting new records whilst running (thanks Strava) and now consider it to be a separate hobby of mine.
As of this morning I'm weighing in at 76Kg (167.5lbs), but this is actually past my weight goal - I'm lighter than I want to be. I first reached this weight about a month ago and increased my daily calorific intake to try to slowly gain a bit back (I want to be between 78 and 80Kg, ideally), however I'm only interested in lean mass, i.e. I don't want to just put on weight for the sake of weight itself, I need it to be functional mass.
Overall, I'm hoping that there might be some individuals in the community that could offer me some insight into some good avenues for gaining a bit of weight, but in a healthy fashion. I incorporate a bit of body weight work about three times a week to keep my upper body appropriately proportioned (as my exercise regime is otherwise mostly leg oriented) and I'd like to join a gym. I'll also add that after having the mentality of 'lower is better' for quite so long, I'm finding it difficult to be happy seeing higher weights on the scales, when I do. Any tricks or tips for combating that would also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone on their own journeys :)
