I know I cannot be the only one who experiences this and I am hoping you all will provide insight on what has worked for you!
I have been heavy-set my entire life. Food has been my go-to for any emotion. I am constantly thinking about what I will eat next. When we plan trips, I always think about what snacks to have on the way and which restaurants we will hit. When I go to bed I think about what I want in the morning.
This stay-at-home mandate has been rough. I am always eating. I have tried the 'tricks.' Drink a glass of water to fill up. Portion out food. Track on a app. It does not matter. I shared my frustrations with my husband during a card game. Even though we had just eaten and we were busy playing, my mind still urged me to find food. My stomach was full. I wasn't bored. My head just kept saying "find something to snack on, you know you are craving it."
I have a follow-up appointment virtually with my doc at the end of this month. She expected to see positive results; I have now hit my highest weight. She makes it sound so simple, eat less, watch calories and exercise. I know it is that easy. But mentally I struggle. How do I get my mind on board? What type of things should I be asking her for support? An appetite suppressant? A particular diet to curb appetite?
I just want to be healthy. I had success with keto but maintaining it was my issue (I managed to do for about a month and a half and lost 25 lbs). It wasn't sustainable in my current state. I also have been diagnosed with PCOS which adds to my struggle in weight management.
What have you all found useful when will power doesn't come into play?
