20F, 5'6, SW 163 CW 124. I've been losing weight on and off for about a year. Now I'm getting close to the underweight end of the BMI range for my height, so I'd like to start trying to maintain my current weight instead of continuing to drop. The problem is, every time I've increased my calorie intake in the past I've immediately gained weight and I want to avoid that.
Is there a specific strategy for increasing my daily calories that might help? Currently I'm eating 1500/day and exercising every day. I was thinking to increase my calorie count by 100/day each week until I hit maintenance (so 1600/day for a week, then 1700/day for a week, etc). Will this work, or should I go slower than that? Are there other things I can do to decrease my chances of gaining weight?
