I'm currently at 287lbs according to my bathroom scale (down by around 70lbs from my highest weight last october 2019). Our company doctor was stunned outright when I weighed in front of him during our annual clinic consultation session.
I should he happy and over the moon for my progress, but everytime I look into the mirror, I'm still the fat kid that I was 10yrs or 15yrs ago. My weight was gradually going down, but my body isn't changing. I used to think about it a lot and be depressed, until my sister pointed out the little things that I failed to notice..
-
I can scratch almost my entire back now on my own; before, I used to ask my lil' sis to scratch it for me.
-
My shoes are now bigger than my feet, that I will soon need to buy a size smaller than my current ones.
-
The barber's chair doesn't feel cramped now; I can even squeeze an arm now beside myself.
-
I don't run out of breath immediately now when suddenly sprinting or climbing a couple flight of stairs
-
And my favorite, when I'm at work and i need to check something on the lower part of our furnaces, I don't need to kneel or semi-kneel now. I can now do squat-stting for as long as I want (hope you get the mental picture).
When I remember these five little things that I can't do just 4months ago, I realize that even though I'm still far from my goal, IM ALREADY FAR that there is no going back. You and me (yes, you too), we can do this.
The journey is much easier and enjoyable if you have a support system, so I hope you find one in your own family or friends.
TAKE A REST IF YOU MUST, BUT DON'T YOU QUIT.
