Finally made it to the gym yesterday

Been talking about excising and getting back into shape for ages and yesterday I finally got my act together after work yesterday and went to the gym. 15 min of rowing, 15 min of elliptical and some weights tossed in at the end. I am currently at 105 kg (231 lbs) and while I look forward to dropping weight my real goal is to be able to fit back into my expensive jeans that I currently can't do up.

With that in mind - what are some good resources for starting to work out? I've done the google search but it usually ends in ads for stupid programs. I figure a mix of cardio and weights is key to reducing my waist but I'm totally lost when I get to the weights side of things. What resources have you used to get into a work out routine? Any good apps out there? Reddit groups?
