I've got absolutely no idea what I look like, all I know is I'm losing the weight and feel good

some stats: Transman/19/5'9"/SW: 189.6/CW: 178.2/GW: 145

I have body dysmorphia. I truly, honestly, can not fathom what my body looks like. I spent a few years being severely underweight (I developed anorexia to cope with having a large chest + being trans, thinking that being 100 pounds would get rid of it), and, looking back, I can see that I was super tiny then. But I still don't know how I look now. I am not trying to imply that anybody looks bad or that I am somehow better that others, but when I see myself, I look like the pictures I see of people who are my weight but half a foot shorter.

What I do know, however, is that I have most definitely lost some weight. It's been 23 days since I began a 400 calorie deficit, (not sure how I'm losing nearly 3 pounds a week), and I feel wonderful. It's not just the numbers on the scale, I can feel my clothes fit differently. My mood is wonderful, I love cooking so preparing my own meals rather than snacking on junk has been so great. I am more energized. Even when I don't see progress, I feel it in so many ways.

The way you look isn't all there is to losing weight. How you feel, how you behave, so much is impacted by something as seemingly minuscule as eating less and eating well. If it doesn't seem like things are looking up for you, they might be. I am so proud of myself and everybody else who is working to better themselves.

Anyway, how I've done it: I count calories but don't obsess, if I am hungry I eat. The hardest thing I've done is learned to identify when I'm hungry, not just bored. I am doing couch to 5k, I used to be very athletic so I started the program (c25k app) a few weeks in, couple with about 20/30 minutes of no-equipment ab workouts on non-c25k days. I cook my food, I know exactly what is going in to what I make. More so than counting calories, I count macros/cholesterol/sodium, etc. Calories are what cause you to lose or gain weight, but setting goals/restrictions on the details can make it easier to stay on track. If a place is closer than a mile, I walk.
