I feel happier - and lighter.

Not so much weight-wise... but I'm 6 months in to changing my life. I'm still working on eating better (I do keep a very loose daily calorie log), but for 6 months I've worked out almost daily. Started with a bit of weights and stationary biking. Now I see a trainer sometimes and have a routine I do at home with weights and a mat and my bike - 45 mins a day, at least. And doing it makes me feel amazing (side note - I now live alone and am on Christmas break - I've been blasting music and doing the bike for over an hour a day like I did over the summer and it's the most amazing feeling. Until my butt goes numb a half hour in and I stop for a while, then get back on for more half-hour intervals. It's a cheap bike with a bad seat. Hour and a half yesterday, two today!).

I move around on my toes - stand on one foot, sway, spin and slide across the floor in my socks. I dance. I actually dance - the girl who was fat all her life and never even bobbed her head to the music so she wouldn't be laughed at. I have music on all the time. I sing and bounce on my drive to work. I get up and spin and swing my hips just because it feels good. I simply get up out of my chair just to enjoy the music better.

I feel like running and jumping and spinning and laughing sometimes. I chase my students around the playground. And the hallways - until we both get scolded.

I'm 36. I still weigh over 250 pounds - 253 as of yesterday. But I now fit a size 14 - and smaller! Some of my shirts now are a large. Some of my pants are a size 36. I have an hourglass shape - and QUITE the butt. Yeah, I've still got a little paunch at the front, and my arms still waggle, but that's changing, too. My legs are still thick, but the shape... they may still be tree trunks, but the shape is that of a normal leg. I lost the Zoidberg back. Sure, I've still got the pudgies in some bras, but otherwise the rolls are gone. There's a big curve in to my waist at the lower back. My neck and shoulders even look slimmer. I turn my head in the mirror and see collarbone and jawline. What I see in the mirror has no resemblance to the body that was there 6 months ago. I stop and stare at what I see. Not to say I don't see what's still there - I'm even more critical of what's left, but now I know it can change.

25 pounds lost. That's it. Barely a budge when you consider my starting weight. But dedicating myself to exercise has changed so very much. I went to buy a new pair of jeans about 6 weeks ago because I had to keep rolling up my size 18's. So I grabbed the 16. Still loose, and for a stretchy pair of jeans, no good. So I grabbed the 14. They fit nicely, but you know if a new pair of jeans fits well... so I went out and went to the regular size section. I put the 36 waist and the size 14 together. Maybe an inch and a half of difference. I wasn't sure... but I tried them. And I got them on and zipped them up without trouble. Yeah, they pushed up the muffin top some, but... they fit. So I left the changeroom and grabbed the 32. Put them together with the 36. About the same difference in size. I didn't try them, but they're sitting in my closet upstairs, waiting (buy one, get one half off).

I went to Costco a couple weeks ago. Their clothes always fit small. I'm only now fitting into some XL shirts I bought there. Grabbed a couple size 16's. Went home, tried them on. Too big. Went back and bought the 14's. Still have them, but I'll be passing them on to my sister before long. I'm glad for Costco - clothes shopping is getting expensive these days.

Still can't fit into the boots I used to wear back in college when I walked everywhere and was too busy to eat, but I'm getting there. Bought an XL shirt from a store last week - can't even get it on. And that's OK. It'll fit eventually. I still feel like dancing.
