How did you start exercising from nothing?

For background: 28F SW300 CW238

I lost the weight I have by diet modification alone. Even that has basically only been portion control with some better choices (I still eat fast food occasionally).

I NEED to start exercising but have 0 motivation and 100 excuses. Twice this week I have tried just walking on the treadmill (throwing in a few minutes of jogging here and there) for a short period of time. Something like 15-20 minutes only. Then I do some leg exercises I was supposed to be doing after PT for my back and ankles. I tend to go too hard too fast and then when I'm hurt and tired I end up quitting.

I figure, 15 minutes is better than nothing. Have any of you tried this to get started? Did it work to form the habit? Why or why not? Is there anything else I could try to at least get me in the habit of moving so I can build on that?
