I experimented fasting last week. I was at work from 8 to 5pm, where i drank lots of water and up to 4-5 small cups of coffee a day. I lost weight very dramatically, a whole kilo a day. I suspect that's just water weight though. I'm not overweight, but want to loose some (BMI 24).
When i got home I only indulged in one or two rice toast with blue cheese. But I wasn't particullary hungry so I stopped there. And that's how 4 days went by and 3 kilos lost.
Having said that i gained 2 kilos in the weekend, because i felt i deserved eating a lot of pizza and candy.
Anyway, i have found I can manage hunger better if i don't eat and it's amazing. Have you tried it?
