Long story short. Been CICO for around 2.5 - 3 months. Dropped from 91kg (200lbs) to 75.5kg (166lbs).
I've been looking through my food logs recently and have been wondering about replacing bread with potato. I'm not looking to drastically cut out carbs, it just occurs to me that I enjoy potato just as much as bread, so why not get a little more at lunchtime for a little less. A 30 gram slice of bread is around 300kJ, a similar kJ expenditure in potato with skin would be almost 90 grams. It has a little more fiber but a little less protein.
The only time I tend to eat bread is the cheese sandwich I have for lunch most days. I would imagine baked potato with the same amount of cheese grated over the top would get me more for my kJ budget.
