Getting my flexibility back

I've just begun the process of losing weight. I've lost 4 pounds so far (yay) but I still have a long way to go (my starting weight was 270).

I'm a teacher. Like many of us, I had to work from home for a year, so I went from being mostly on my feet to mostly in a chair. Online teaching is surprisingly tiring, so I wasn't exactly in the mood to exercise afterwards, plus I wasn't devoting much time to preparing and eating good food.

Anyway, now that I'm back in the classroom, I'm having difficulties. My flexibility is totally shot. I can't bend over to tie my shoes or cross my legs because my hips are so tight. Walking up and down stairs is killing my knees. I sometimes get a painful twinge in my hip while walking. I've been trying to do some exercises to help bring back my range of motion. (Someone I know suggested yoga and, hoo boy, was that a bad idea. World of pain!) I know I will need to build some strength and flexibility back up, but will it also happen naturally as I lose weight? Any suggestions to help my flexibility?
