hey! i’m 15f, 5’6 and my weight is in the higher 200’s. there’s multiple causes for my weight, some are my fault of course, some of it is depression and bipolar meds (abilify.) ive been struggling with getting myself to exercise, but i’ve found something that is helpful for me, so i wanna share some ideas with the people in this subreddit, and hopefully this will help someone! so, if you are having trouble with motivation, maybe you’re depressed, or maybe even just lazy. if you tend to play video games a lot, i really suggest exercise games! there’s a decent amount of options. some that i have are:
- just dance. pretty self explanatory, i’m sure everyone knows about it, but it’s actually a decent workout! the dances are pretty fun, and theres a huge selection of songs! although there is a paywall for a majority of the songs, which sucks. i think it might be worth it if you can afford it, because theres lots of variety. (i have it on nintendo switch, but it’s available on playstation and xbox, and if you don’t have a console, there’s a free mobile app! although, there are micro transactions.)
-ring fit adventure. ring fit is for the nintendo switch, and theres multiple worlds to go through. every stage you go through, you fight enemies until you reach the end of the world, and fight the boss. i recommend checking it out! you get to do a few different exercises, and they all focus on different areas. so there’s lots of variety! plus, theres difficulty adjustment! so even if you’re super out of shape, you can start playing at a low difficulty, and eventually increase it as you get used to it.
-beat saber. another one i’m sure a lot of people have heard of! with this, you can easily work up a sweat! and, there’s an okay selection of default songs, but you can import custom/community made songs. which adds a lot more options. beat saber is only for vr though, so if you don’t have a vr headset, this one’s not for you.
-the thrill of the fight. a vr boxing simulator! it’s pretty fun, it definitely gets your heart rate up, and makes your arms sore, lol. there’s different difficulties, and different opponents you can face! i suggest it if you like boxing, or just want a good workout! you can even put on wrist/ankle weights for more of a challenge!!
-pokémon go. another one i’m sure most people know of. while not as engaging (imo.), if you like pokémon, it can be fun to walk around and collect them! even if you walk just 10 minutes a day, although technically you should be walking a bit more, anything counts. and getting outside is good for you! so i would suggest the app if you want to go outside and walk more.
-wii fit. i personally haven’t played wii fit, but i’ve heard good things about it. if you have a wii, you might wanna check it out! :)
