do short people take more steps than taller people?

i’ve been wondering for years but always felt like it was a stupid question (maybe it is!), but i’ve noticed that i always have lower step counts than that of my friends, even when we go the same places. for example, i went to the city with a friend about a year ago, for context i’m 5’11F and she’s 5’5F, and we did the exact same things and walked the exact same places/same amount from the moment we woke up to the moment we went to bed. we both had the same model of fitbit at the time, and when we checked our steps at the end of the day there was around a ~2000-3000 step disparity. is this due to our height difference? how does it affect calories burned through walking?

edit: to clarify, she had ~2000-3000 more steps than i did!
