I live in a bit of a food desert as far as fresh food goes (rural island). Sometimes we have salad mix, sometimes we don't (if we do, it expires within 2 days lol). Sometimes our tomatoes are so emaciated they are almost yellow. Sometimes the shipment is already rotting on day 1 in the store. If you want anything interesting, you might as well forget about it.
So, often I go to the store, can't find anything to make a meal, and come back with a lot of garbage. This happened yesterday. I went to our worst grocery store because it was closest, they barely had anything fresh stocked, I came home with doritoes and oreos and demolished a bunch in a sitting while skipping a real dinner. 😑
And I had been pretty good for breakfast/lunch! I had oatmeal for breakfast and beans/rice/roasted veggies/egg for lunch. So it's not even a response to fasting or something.
Thankfully my weight is not too out of control (5'5" and 150), but my self hatred is getting hard to face after my moments of weakness.
Usually I respond well to a diet with stupid rules like Whole30 because there's some sort of switch where my brain is like, "can't eat that" and I don't. But a diet like that is hard to sustain here with limited groceries and frequent power outages. I don't respond well to intuitive eating because, well, my intuition is broken.
Anyway, if you all have any suggestions I'd love to hear them.
