A couple years ago I bought Hoka shoes thinking this would help motivate me to run. This did not. I ran for the first time a couple days ago in a forest. I'm not even quite sure why I tried it. At first I was like what hell did I decide to put myself through but I started to enjoy it. I felt like a kid again. Running and jumping over tree roots. I tried to make a game out of all the rocks on the path. Every time I stepped on a big rock I would try to run faster as if I hit Mario Kart arrows for a speed boost. I had my headphones in and tried to run about two times per song. I have a lot to improve on but I actually smiled while running. It was an interesting feeling. I felt powerful and strong. I hope to get out there again on my next day off work. At one point I found myself singing the Pocahontas line 'come run the hidden pine trails of the forest.' Life is weird. Try something new even if you aren't actually motivated and maybe something great will happen. 29 F Overweight.
