Hey everyone, I just need some insight here.
Here's some backstory on this, I've always been fat and when I got to my teenager years I realised that I couldn't look at myself without being disgusted with what I saw in the mirror and pictures.
I then decided to get a gym membership and then ran 3 times a week for a year on a treadmill. It resulted in me losing all the weight and getting fit by the age of 17 while eating whatever I wanted, I just melted.
85kg (187lbs) to 69kg (152lbs) for 178cm (5 ft 10)
For the first time of my life I was fit and liked myself.
Fastforward to when I got with my actual girlfriend when we were both 21yo. With years passing by and restaurants, deserts and all I got to my heaviest of all time, 98 kg (216lbs) at 26 years old.
I tried to go back to the gym but nothing changed so I didn't go anymore (it was way harder, had much less time and I was less motivated), I tried intermittent fasting for more than a year and not a single kilo was lost. None.
My eating habits have changed so I ate less sweets, stopped soda and limited all processed food. My girlfriend who isn't even overweight lost some of her kilos and everyone could tell she lost weight. And once again, I didn't even budge on that damn scale.
So I went to see a nutritionist, she told me that my body wasn't provided with enough calories a day to function properly so it didn't spend any calories and kept everything I was eating within the day.
I was at 1500 - 1600 kcal/day so she told me that I had to get to 2400 kcal/day but I had to change my habits :
Toasts in the morning with some butter and a fruit.
At noon my plate had to be composed of 50% veggies, 25% carbs and 25% of chicken, or fish and fruit as desert.
If I crave any kind of sugar I can eat a fruit in the afternoon.
Finally my last meal of the day must have the same structure with veggies and carbs but without any kind of meat.
And also that I had to walk at least 30 minutes a day.
Has anyone had any success changing their diet with the help of a nutritionist/dietician ?
Thank you for reading.
