Is this a healthy eating behaviour?

I went to watch a movie with my friend earlier in the week and we planned to go to five guys before to grab a burger and fries. Obviously this is quite a high calorie meal so I made sure earlier in the day too have a very light lunch and breakfast (75<) calories.

I brought this point up in passing conversation whilst we were waiting for our food; she said it sounds like quite a bad behaviour and “it’s okay to sometimes eat a little bit more than you need”.

I’d like to get a few insights as to if this is a positive or negative behaviour, as I genuinely do believe that my consumption of food is far better than it has ever been thanks to awareness strategies like this.
