I'm finally doing it.

The age-old quest of bettering my health. Through the pandemic, like many of us, I upped my food intake and didn’t exercise (what is that?). Resulting in a weight I’ve never hit in my life and to be quite honest, shocking (415lbs). On 4/22/21, I made the choice to start down this path of betterment. I can lie to myself and say I didn’t look like or feel like I wasn’t at my heaviest, regardless at that point, I made a conscious decision on how and what I was going to do moving forward. I weighed what was important to me (my family and friends) and really tightened down my mindset in terms of knowing what this will take. At the start of this endeavor, I had no clue how or what would help me get “in better health”. I use “In better health” because I didn’t know where to start, I just knew I had to get “better”. Over the years I developed a reputation as someone who can put back alcohol and hold their liquor very well. At the risk of being vulnerable, alcohol created the deepest, darkest, and most intimidating black holes in my life. It has done so with my blessing under the guise of “fun”. I let it happen over a period of 15+ years. After coming to terms with that, alcohol was the first thing I cut out of my life (sober for 8 months now). I’ve had to learn who I was again, get used to having fun again, but that is a different conversation for a different time. Getting “better”; I revamped my diet, cutting out most all processed foods. I made sure to leave carbs IN, recalculated my macros and stuck to a diet plan I made, something sustainable. I started working out about 3 months ago and have seen changes I haven’t seen for close to 18 years. It’s been a journey of change, one of learning. A journey of redefining who I am through action. I’m not done, not by a long shot. For the first time in my life, I feel all in and it’s after months of continuous effort. I’ve lost 125lbs to date, in 8 months. Let’s see how far I can take this…

TL;DR - I hit rock bottom and stuck with my plan and have managed to lose 125lbs and make some life altering changes in habit!
