Hey everyone.
Moving away to college into my own apartment, I have instituted a new life plan that has been working for me. I count my calories, I eat only when I feel hungry, and I don't weigh myself regularly. Based on averaging a bunch of internet "calories per day," I should be eating 2600 calories to maintain weight, 2100 calories to lose 1 lb / week, and 1560 to lose 2 lb / week. This assumes a sedentary lifestyle, which I presume I have; I don't really exercise beyond walking to and from places.
What worries me though is I often find myself eating only 900-1200 calories of food and just... feeling satiated for the day? My typical daily diet includes scambled eggs in the morning, a lean microwave meal (<400 calories) for lunch, and a small bowl of tomato soup if I'm hungry in the evening. But even with just that, it leaves me pretty full and happy.
I don't think I am underestimating my caloric intake; if anything, I add 10-20% of any listed calorie count on a box or on the internet so I know I'm not overeating. But even with that buffer, I find myself undershooting my estimated daily calories by a significant margin. I also don't buy snack food (mostly out of necessity; I walk to the market and only bring back what I can carry.)
Is it typical to eat significantly under your daily calorie quota and just not be hungry? Am I starving myself without realizing it and will there be health consequences to doing this? Or am I just eating better?
