A week of gyming and calorie counting later... I haven't been able to lose weight

Hi, I've been overweight for most of my life and recently reached 96.5 KGs (212 pounds). My height is 5"11, I'm 21 years old and male. Decided to join a gym and have been watching my calories too. Trying to consume between 1300-1500. In the gym I'm doing 30 minutes of cardio (cycling and running), with some push ups, crunches and planking. Recently also started upper-body stuff like weight lifting. Been a week of this but haven't noticed much difference in my weight. In fact it's pretty much exactly the same as it was before. Is it normal to see slow results at the start... or should I be pushing myself harder?
