I feel like donkey crap today and it’s incredible

I am amazed. The last two weeks I’ve made a very conscious effort to avoid processed food. Bagged shredded cheese, cosmic brownies, Doritos, all that has been avoided in favor of fine, hard cheeses, roasted veggies, steak Caesar salad…. You get the point. I’m guesstimating calorie counts and simply asking myself if I’m truly hungry before reaching for the fridge. I’ve lost 6 pounds already and have felt fairly good the past week. Today I was lazy and grabbed a pop tart for breakfast, made chips and cheese for lunch, mindlessly ate three giant chocolate chip cookies at work and for dinner drank three beers and ate a bag of Cheetos.

I feel like absolute garbage and while sitting on the toilet regretting my choices it occurred to me that just two weeks ago my body was indifferent to a day of food like that. Two weeks of enjoying really delicious, good food, and simply avoiding snacks and eating reasonable portions and my body already has jumped off the junk food train. Forget dieting, I just finally know what a healthy diet feels like and man does it feel good to crave a kale salad rather than tatertots.

Anyway, just hoping someone sees this and is encouraged that losing weight doesn’t equate giving up delicious food, it just means giving your body a chance to realize how delicious real food is!

Side note: fruit is amazing now!!!! It used to taste sour but now that my tastebuds aren’t numbed out, I’d take a juicy pear over softserve ice cream anyday!

Double side note: it also feels really good to want to make a veggie hash for breakfast tomorrow because I want to, not feel like I should starve myself and only eat a dry salad tomorrow to compensate for today’s food failures. I guess my psyche has adapted along with my body! Healthy food is a reward, not a punishment anymore.
