Any tips for emotional eating?

I'm trying to find a counsellor who specializes in this area, but waitlists are nuts.

Basically, I *know* I'm an emotional eater, but these days food is really the only thing that makes me happy some days, and one of the only things I have to look forward to. I know there's some depression linked to that, but its more of a temporary situational depression, so not something I really want to take meds for.

If anyone has tips on how they conquered emotional eating I'd love to hear your suggestions! "Journalling" doesn't really interest me. I know why I'm eating - food makes me happy, especially fatty delicious food. So I dont really see the point in journalling "feeling sad and lethargic, but this pasta made me smile" lol. In fact I'll probably feel more depressed looking back and reading my notes.

I am trying to do other things that make me happy, and plan things to "look forward to" but they just aren't making me as fulfilled and content as they used to. I know the right answer is probably to exercise more and get those endorphins going, its just so hard to do a big workout when you're feeling depressed, and the little workouts dont make me happy, I just grumble the whole time and fight to keep going even if Im playing my favorite tunes.

Haha any helpful tips I appreciate!
