How the hell do you do this?

35m here. About 7kg overweight. Been trying to lose weight for about 7 years with quite limited success.

I’ve cut my calories to 1700 a day. I cycle to work each day (2 x 30mins), don’t eat sweets or soda, have cut meat from my diet, don’t take any medication, exercise portion control (I have a kitchen scale), have had blood tests done (nothing to report) and am essentially fit and healthy.

Yet the only time I’ve reached my goal weight was when I was very, very ill and couldn’t eat anything for a week.

I just don’t get it. I’m putting all the work in and getting no results. Further more if something goes wrong and upsets my schedule I pack weight back on in a matter of days. For example: lock down preventing me from cycling to work for a few weeks undid months of hard work.

My GF eats virtually the same as me, but bigger portions and does less exercise, yet is very skinny. I work with a dude that literally eats an entire pizza a day, followed by Reb Bulls who is skinny.

Short of starving myself what the hell can I do?
