Hi all, I've been on Zoloft for about a year and a half now. Hunger is the only side effect I have from it, so my psychiatrist is extremely reluctant to switch meds for me given how drastically it has otherwise improved my life.
A mix of the pandemic and my increased hunger signals has made me gain 10kg in the past year, which I'm now looking to shed.
Part of the issue is the hunger my medication causes. It's not normal hunger, but it feels like starvation. Nausea to the point of vomiting, light-headedness/fainting, irritable, genuinely wanting to cry from the pain. It comes on suddenly but can last hours. When I'm hungry its all I can think about.
I eat a balanced healthy diet and keep track of calories to make sure I'm eating enough. But if I listened to my body, I would be eating way more than I need. I exercise a lot, but it just increases the hunger even more.
So I'm looking for any proven appetite suppressants as this hunger simply isn't real or helpful. I can't have caffeine unfortunately, and I don't smoke. Any ideas?
