Emotional Eating Recommendations (F28 - 270 5'9)

How have you gotten over emotional eating?

I've been doing well for 3 weeks, loss of 10 lbs. Then I've run into multiple situations in the last 2 weeks where I have had emotions over come me. I had previously cleared my house of sweets and the emotions had me pacing around the house for hours before I finally broke down and drove to the store for sweets.

I tried so hard not to grab my keys, I walked around the store thinking "I don't need these" but here I am compelled by my emotions to tell me "sweets are the only way to resolve my sadness and fear". It's been ingrained in me as a small child and even with progress it effects me now.

I know many a persons who have this problem as it seems to be culturally promoted in the US. You see it on TV and movies women crying into an ice cream carton, binges on Chinese food, the works.

So please if you've figured out how to combat your emotional eating, will you let me know what has worked for you.
