insane water retention?

I don't know if someone has a similar experience, but my body retins an UNHOLY amount of water. I am talking up to 20 pounds of water around certain time of the month, but even outside of that I seem to just swell up like a baloon.

As I posted the other day, I've been having a bad time and have been beasting to deal with anxiety and other stuff. So, I balooned up. I mean whole boy swollen, feet the size of breadloaves, general discomfort , barely fitting in clothes sort of thing.

Since Tuesday, I lost 6 pounds in water weight, and I'm still kind of swollen so there's probably more.

This is not an unusual event for me. I swell up like a pufferfish then the moment I start being careful, i melt down.

A note that this runs in the family- my mother had similar issues.

Does this happen to anyone else? Could it be thyrrhoid related?

I mentioned it to my doctor but he claims it's just salt, but I don't think I eat exceedingly salty foods.

Any advice would be appreciated.
