I don’t know how to respond

As many have probably encountered this problem, I find I am becoming increasingly more uncomfortable with responding to compliments as I lose weight.

I am 5’4, 170lbs. I have recently lost 30 pounds from my start weight, and hope to lose 30 more until my goal weight. I encounter many people on a daily basis, and most are beginning to notice a physical change.

How do you respond to those who compliment or ask if you’ve been losing weight? I mostly give a quick “Thanks, I’ve been trying” or “Yes, a bit” or something along those lines but find I’m uncomfortable with lingering stares or short silences that come afterward.

Any tried and true suggestions? I know most are looking to give a compliment, but it’s a big mental roadblock for me to adjust to someone else talking about my body.
