Weight Loss for Everyone: Can anyone else relate?

Can anyone else relate?

Since January of this year, I (F21) have since lost ~60 lbs. I feel healthier than I have in a long time, and—although I still have another 40 lbs I plan to lose—I’m really happy with the progress I’ve made so far. However, one thing that struck me is the amount of male attention I’ve been getting.

When I was at my heaviest, I did not date or really have any romantic prospects at all to speak of. However, this past week I went to the bar and a guy bought me drinks (unheard of for me!), and one of my roommates’ friends came onto me when he was staying over at our house (something that had to be pointed out by my roommates after he left because I didn’t register it happening in the moment).

I guess I’m happy about it, but I’m also sort of not?

A (small) part of my motivation for losing weight is to look better, so it’s nice to know that the work I’m putting in is paying off in that regard; however, it’s also really disheartening. I’m trying incredibly hard not to let myself fall down the path of equating my worth to my weight, but I can’t deny that it stings a bit if I dwell on it for too long.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Any words of advice?
