This is what people mean when they say you can’t outrun a bad diet, but the run is still worth it. NSFW pics

I’ve been working out HARD for 18 months after getting badly deconditioned from 2 c sections and some hard times with the babies. I swim a hard 2k every morning as well as sprint workouts and some body weight stuff and I’m starting to lift. I am definitely fitter but I haven’t lost ANY fat. I’ve actually gained weight. I knew that this was going to be the case and I am ok with it. It’s not ideal but it works for where my mental health is at. But I think it’s an interesting case study on how little weight you drop if you don’t deal with the intake issue.

That being said, it was worth it and I don’t regret it at all. I feel GREAT, I kick ass in the pool, and I’m happy with my choices. If you’re not ready to fix your diet but working out, developing a community, getting that endorphin hit seems appealing, it isn’t pointless. It’s still a step in the right direction. Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Just have realistic expectations. There’s a post going around right now about how anything worth doing is worth doing badly. If cleaning the kitchen seems impossible then just wipe down the counter. If sweating your way through a full workout feels impossible then just go for a walk. If you NEED that bag of chips try just eating half. If logging your macros feels overwhelming then just write everything down simply. Do the things you CAN do and don’t worry about the things you can’t do.

But if you ever wanted clear photographic evidence of how you can’t outrun a bad diet, here it is.
