Had our baby, came back from the hospital & joined the Century Club™️

I wrote earlier about finding out my wife and I were pregnant in January, and how it was the kick in the pants I finally needed to get my weight under control: https://www.reddit.com/r/loseit/comments/plibx3/hit_my_gw_this_morning/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

I hit my goal weight before the baby came, but the real goal was to build new habits that could survive the life-changing chaos of the baby.

While in the hospital, even through the stress of supporting my wife through some unexpected turns in labor and delivery, having family in town staying with us and cooking for us, and then learning how to take care of our newborn, I was able to (mostly) stick to my diet. Even when technically cheating, I was able to keep it pretty healthy.

I had every expectation to come back from the hospital having gained weight, but to my shock I had dropped several pounds!

Since we’ve been back home I’ve been working to get back into my routine pre-baby. I’m sticking to the eating habits I built during her pregnancy, and even though I don’t have time to work out as much as I used to, I actually went out on a 3 mile run today. I’ve gotten some extra motivation posting pictures of our new family, because I’ve gotten so many positive comments from friends about how good I look!

This morning I got pretty emotional when I stepped on the scale because I weighed in at 235.8 - that’s 100.2 pounds down from what I weighed at the beginning of the year. The big number coming after our baby’s birth actually means so much more to me, because I feel even more confident I’ve successfully changed my lifestyle, not just instituted a diet. That the changes have stuck and I’m going to keep going until I’m finally in the normal BMI category for my height.

Still a ways to go on that front, but I am so happy. Lots of wonderful changes and so much to look forward to - including a long, healthy future of parenting my son and building happy memories with him!
