Let me explain.
Say my maintenance calories is 2,500 and on Monday I eat 5,000 calories, and on Tuesday I eat approximately 0. I return to eating 2,500 a day Wednesday. This means I ate maintenance calories on average Monday and Tuesday.
Will the 2,500 calories extra become fat, and then the 2,500 calories burned be fat/muscle? Meaning I didn’t move in weight but ended up losing muscle through the exchange? (Assume I ate enough protein for both days on the 5,000 calorie day)
The reason I ask is because I know when you lose weight, you lose muscle and fat (minimized by weightlifting and protein but still there) — but when you gain weight…… muscle is very hard to put on, so not all of it is going to muscle.
But if I negate the extra calories the next day, is that soon enough to deal with them before the body converts to fat? It might be a question for a dietician or something but figured I’d ask reddit to see. (Walking off the calories as well, about 500 burned over two days to make it even out and increase my maintenance to 2500, but not as relevant to the question).
Adding more text here in case the bot decides it’s not long enough.
