Running and lifting and CICO and joy F34 SW: 210 CW: 200 GW: 140

I’m new! 34 F CW: 200 / GW: 140

A bad breakup 2 years ago, quarantine, and not prioritizing myself caught up with me and I finally weighed myself a few weeks ago and was 210 lb. NOT OKAY.

I was always pretty athletic until my late 20s, but hated running because it always hurt my knees and shins (even when I was 110 lbs and 14). My partner was convinced I just needed the right shoes, took me to a running store, and bought me a pair of really nice running shoes (Brooks Adrenaline).

She was right, and holy crap RUNNING IS SO FUN. Now that it doesn’t make me hate my hips and knees, it’s GREAT. I’ve been going to the gym every day just absolutely stoked to get on the treadmill and see how long I can sustain running before I need to walk, experimenting with incline, how many times in an hour I can run for a minute without stopping, etc.

I love lifting weights (I have for years) but it’s just so satisfying to get really gross and sweaty on the treadmill. New fun activity!!!

I downloaded MyFitnessPal and despite the FA/HAES people screaming about how triggering calorie counting is, it’s the only thing making me feel like I can DO THIS. Genetics aren’t on my side: I have PCOS and it sucks. I’m tracking macros and sugar as well as calories to make sure my efforts are worthwhile and to know what my body needs/wants.

Are there any other PCOS ladies here? PCOS ladies who run and lift? Anyone who gets a sweaty tomato face at their local Y?
