I'm posting this here because I figure it'd be far less biased than posting in a keto subreddit.
I think I understand the basics of a keto diet ; carbs provide us with energy , but when we eliminate carbs from our diet , our body burns fat more efficiently (ketosis) to make up for the loss of carbs.
My question is , does keto therefore defy the CICO theory? If I have a 500 calorie deficit on a normal balanced diet will I lose less fat than if I have a 500 deficit on keto ? Would the composition of the weight lost be different ? (Fat vs muscle)
Or is the science behind a keto diet exaggerated and it simply helps you lose weight by satiating you with less calories by providing you with so much protein? (Which would therefore fall in line with CICO)
