I've been going to the gym now for over two years (obviously not including lockdowns and such) - I go to the same gym, though recently (Since March when lockdown lifted) I've tried two other gyms that are included in my membership in which I have a pretty good routine going to each of them atleast 3x a week for different classes.
Now, I'm a pretty large lady, 430lbs at 6ft - so I'm pretty noticeable, and while I'm fat I'm really quite fit. I go to the gym almost daily and do a variety of things I started with swimming daily, then added Aqua aerobics twice a week to that, I then added Boxercise and Speedflex, bodypump etc.
When lockdown lifted I was back at the gym swimming daily, doing bodypump, HIIT, Step, Spin class, personal training and strength training every other day.
Now over the past two weeks I've been approached by three different people, all people I do not recognise, so are new to my swimming schedule or class schedule - they act like it's my first time in the gym when, they've never been in my class before. Last nights conversation was "Oh bravo, Good for you. No, really WELL DONE YOU FOR COMING TO SPIN. REALLY, WELL DONE." - I know these people are just trying to motivate me, but frankly it's getting on my tits. There were three different people in the class last night that I do 5x a week and this new comer made a beeline for the fat chick to congratulate her for moving her arse. All three of the conversations were pretty much like this.
I just half laughed and said thanks, when I really wanted to ask her why she didn't give bravos to the three thinner people in class, and why only my chunky arse was deserving of such attention - my husband thinks I'm just rude, but it's really starting to piss me off.
So that's it, that's my rant. Maybe if you see a bigger person in the gym get to know them first before telling them how amazing it is that they've managed not to eat the kitchen and go to the gym instead.
