hi.
i am a teenager, 270lbs., and 5'8. i've been on this subreddit for a while, i know in just a kid but i know it's unhealthy for anyone to be almost 300lbs and i atleast want to get under 200.
i have a few problems. i don't really know how to start; should i focus on exercise because i don't exercise basically at all, or should i focus on diet because my diet is trash, or do i focus on both at the same time.
- Diet - my diet is basically just carbs and starches, i do get other food groups; (my mom cooks chicken and other meat a lot, she also cooks vegetables and i eat fruits on occasion) but i know it's not as much as it should be. i do drink a cup of water before every meal though and i think i've been eating less.
how do i incorporate more variety in my meals when i don't really have a lot of variety in my kitchen. i had an idea of just making my own food but i don't have any money (my mom and dad didn't really have the money to give us allowance- especially right now) but i kinda know how to cook.
i don't think counting calories would be a good idea because i can't really keep below a certain number of calories when i don't know how much calories are in certain things (especially with like serving sizes and stuff.) and when i don't know what my mom's cooking for dinner, and a lot of the time she doesn't even know what to cook until later in the day.
i think and idea could be roughly counting calories or keeping a food log. also i need help on servings and a good way to go about them because i think my servings are too big.
one thing i have been doing good is not eating as many snacks and if i'm hungry i drink some water and it usually goes away.
- Exercise- we have an exercise bike in our living room that i can use but how much should i use it? should i just do and hour on the bike in the morning or should i do it throughout the day (ex; every hour im sitting down, i use the bike for 15 minutes).
and i think i will try to go on a walk atleast once a week.
sorry if this is too many questions. i just atleast don't want to go over 300lbs. if you have any suggestions or advice please tell me.
