I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I had a bunch of seemingly unrelated symptoms which made my doctor raise his eyebrows a bit and investigate further. Turns out my thyroid levels are high, indicating hypothyroidism. As a result he put me on levothyroxine. I also take abilify which I just started today.
I've read that hypothyroidism makes it "almost impossible" to lose weight, and abilify is known to pack on the pounds as well apparently.
What I am asking is, is this desire of mine to lose weight hopeless? As a little background, I lost 40 pounds in about a year but then gained it back rather quickly. I want to lose it again and then keep working toward my goal weight. But at the moment I'm feeling a bit defeated.
