How should I start a life without sugar?

Hi Reddit,

First of all, sorry for my bad english, it is not my first language. Not even my second.

So I am 29 years old and I weight around 130 kg and I am 189cm tall. I wanna lose around 30-35kg in the next 1-2 years.

The reason I am that overweight is simple, I am addicted to softdrinks like cola and red bull. I drink atleast 1 bottle cola (1.5liter) and 2-3 red bull a day. I do this for around 5 years now.

I still do sport and i eat healthy so I think just stopping with the softdrinks should bring me to my goal.

What do you guys think is better, to slowly reduce the amount of sugar I drink or just stop with everything right away? I am a little afraid that after all this years I maybe have some sort of diabetics or something. Can I just go to the doctor and ask him to check if everything is ok before I start?

I have heard that the first weeks without sugar are really hard so I wanna ask for some tips how do deal with it the best way.
