Does anyone else suffer from nausea instead of hunger?

Hi everyone, like many of us I've been yo-yo dieting for years with varying levels of success, and I'm well used to hunger and dealing with it until it "passes" when trying different types of diet (CICO, Keto, IF etc).
However lately, instead of hunger - if I skip breakfast, or get to a point where I would normally start to get hungry I get nauseous, this can occur first thing of a morning in bed even, and quite often I will dry heave or actually vomit if I'm hungry. I've seen my Doctor, he has told me that it's excess stomach acid, gave me a round of medication that helped while I was taking it, but it hasn't gone away.
I'm about to start a pre-op diet for VSG, but I worry about nausea and vomiting throughout this pre-op liquid diet. Has anyone else had this problem and found a way to combat it?
