For my entire life, I've been able to eat as much garbage as I want without ever putting on weight. Now, I'm 21 and my metabolism is noticeably slowing down, and I've been gaining weight throughout quarantine. This puts me in a difficult spot, because I love food and I am having trouble motivating myself to make substantial changes to my diet, despite my growing anxiety about my body. On top of that, I am a college student without the time, money, or skill to prepare elaborate meals with fresh ingredients.
So, I am wondering if anyone else can relate to this. If shaming myself isn't an effective motivator, what can be? How can I make the kind of mindset shift that will allow me to move past 21 years of careless eating?
