I have been on and off working out my entire life. I’ve always been a few more pounds than those around me, but the smallest of my family so I never cared too much. F/24/150 before 175 currently
In February I was TBoned on my drivers side by a driver who ran a red light and my back is severely messed up. I have many Cervical and lumbar bulges, Retrospondylitis in some of the discs in my lower back, and the curve of my spine is off now. I’ve been seeing a physical therapist, a chiropractor, a massage therapist, a neurologist, and my regular PCP. I am almost finished with getting epidural steroids, with my final shot of this round at the beginning of next month. My PT is wanting me to start to get back to normal activities and see how they go, but I’m petrified to hurt my back. I haven’t worked out enough to know what will hurt my back. I did a lunge today thinking it would only work out my legs and pain shots up my back. (Very honestly could have bad form- it’s been a while)
I also have been overeating. The stress from work and the now lawsuit I will admit make me want to stress eat and I have obviously given into it. My SO also is talking about proposing soon and I know I do not want to look how I do when it happens.
My thought process now is to track what I eat and to try and get that as low as possible that is healthy. I am also talking to a few physical trainers if they would work with my injuries and teach me how to work out without irritating them. If one of them feels comfortable, I would start that after healing from my last injection next month.
I am trying to stay motivated and look forward to trying to start over and getting to a weight where I look good and I feel good again.
TLDR; got into a car accident 6 months ago with many resulting back injuries, is tracking my food and working with a PT who works with injuries a good starting point? Am I under doing it? Overdoing it?
